So I was following a step-by-step guide on the windows website to fix an issue with my pc. However. one of the steps included disabling all windows processes to see if one of them was causing the issue.
Guess what. Once you disable them, you can no longer log onto windows with your pin code. Pray you remember your admin password.
I really cannot fathom that I could not find a working solution by googling “how to reenable windows processes”. I joined discord servers, tried some guides but nothing worked. I couldn’t even enter safe mode, which was highly irregular, I remember myself distinctly using safe mode multiple times in the past, why wasn’t it working now? I don’t know if windows 10 has something to do with it but the solution to get to safe mode is to click and hold shift while you press restart. After restart click Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, then Startup settings. Click restart. I also kept hitting F4 while this particular type of restart. No idea if that helped but I got into safe mode.
In safe mode I clicked on a folder and went to the windows system32 folder, looked for msconfig and clicked it as an admin. So from that menu I was able to enable all processes and that solved the issue.
I may have been able to do that from the admin account without entering safe mode. But it didn’t occur to me to go there through explorer. I was trying to execute stuff through the only means that seemed available, through the task manager. I did enable a lot of services that were stopped through the task manager, but it turns out services and processes are different things… I think… anyway I couldn’t enable what needed to be enabled for windows to work from the task manager.
So I am writing this for anyone out there having the same issue as I had. Why isn’t there a sensible guide on this issue out there?
Some were saying you have to execute services.exe that doesn’t freaking work.
