“Helios” the new Lineage II update-expansion is a fact and though the “good” stuff have to do with new Raid Bosses for high level players, one just can’t ignore the MACRO update:
Finally. We can loop macros 😀 😀 😀 Yeah!
What does this mean practically? It can mean whatever you want it to mean, as long you have a lot of imagination and creativity to use macros for almost everything. Essentially, macroing now is a way to legally bot, without really botting. Just automatizing few aspects of the game that are so repetitive that makes you wish you were a machine and not a human. 😛 Back to Contents
How do you loop a macro?
By right-clicking on it, only if its placed on the skill bar.
After a lot of experiments, before and mainly after the new update, I am going to release here several macros that I have created which will prove useful to many of you. But first, I will explain the mechanics and how I ended up with these macros. Back to Contents
To see the command that a skill or action generates, simply drag the skill or the action from the skill or actions tab, into the macro. One can also drag a shortcut into the macro but if you change the shortcuts, the macro will also change. So I recommend using skillbar shortcuts only for items or things that cannot be dragged directly from the action/skill tabs. For example to create a change-gear macro one can use skillbar shortcuts.
Unfortunately, one cannot link a shortcut that has been assigned to a macro. Nope, NCSoft doesn’t allow us to use complex loops and program macros… yet 😛
/delay 1
means that there will be a delay of 1 second before moving on to the next command. One can use this for any number of seconds for example /delay 60
delays the next command for a minute. For a list of all commands visit the official lineage 2 website. Back to Contents
How to create an XP/Leveling-Macro
There are several things one needs to take into consideration before creating an XP-Macro:
- Is it for a fighter or a mage?
- Will pickup be used or not?
- Does the toon level correspond to an area suitable for macros?
- Are you going to be afk, semi-afk or monitoring the char?
- Will you use shots or not?
- Does the toon have a mentor or not?
If you are going to be monitoring the toon then almost any macro will work. Monitoring is useful because the terrain may have obstacles or the respawn time may suck and “targetnext” can render your toon inactive for too long periods of time. If you really want fast XP, then you need to forget about pickup and use targetnext only in a very specific way. If you are planning to be afk for more than one hour, the npc buffs will not last so you either need to have a mentor (for chars below level 85) or use a box iss in the party with a buffing macro (for chars over level 85). The biggest challenge for xping with macros is to create one which is safe enough, so that your toon will not be ending up dead all the time. Back to Contents
XP-Macro for lvl 24 Mage in Windy Hill:
/target sobbing wind
/useskill wind strike
/target windima
/useskill wind strike
/useskill wind strike
This Macro is designed for an Elven Wizard with a mentor (buffs up continuously) and without using blessed spiritshots. Windy Mill is ideal for macroing because it has no obstacles and there are only 2 types of mobs around. Sobbing Wind needs only 1 shot with Wind Strike to be killed while Windimas need 2. Once the macro is ready, you drag it on the skillbar and RIGHT CLICK IT to toggle it on so that it will keep on looping. It is a very safe macro and my toons have rarely died there. The xp is not that great but who would object to getting 8 levels while completely afk? Back to Contents
“Targetnext” or target a specific mob?
The command targetnext works mostly for fighters and has a very limited range. It should be used only in areas where the mobs spawn very densely close to each other, otherwise your toon will not be able to target mobs that are just a bit further away. That is why the best way to use targetnext is after using commands to target specific mobs. By targeting specific mobs, the toon may cover longer distances and agro mobs in the way. After killing the targeted mob, by using targetnext we get out of danger and eliminate the monsters that have been following us. Whenever a toon has to cover longer distances to reach a specific mob, it is useful to insert /delay 2 or /delay 3 commands after the attacking skill, otherwise the macro will continue to execute the next commands before the toon has the possibility to reach the specific mob. Be aware that “targetnext” will not only target mobs but flagged players around you as well. Read more about this in: A word of caution. Back to Contents
XP-Macro for fighter lvl 51-57 in Sea of Spores
It took me a while to develop this macro but at its final form it works like a charm and can take a char from level 51 to level 57 while being completely AFK and without dying. Just make sure you have a mentor for buffs and enough soulshots. The macro is designed for a dwarf but you can insert the basic skill of your fighter or just /attack
The Macro is the following:
/target corpse
/useskill Fatal Strike
/delay 3
/targetnext
/useskill Fatal Strike
/delay 3
/targetnext
/useskill Fatal Strike
/delay 3
/target lesser
/useskill Fatal Strike
/delay 3
Macro infinitely looping Sonatas while following the main DD or healer
This macro is ideal for boxing an ISS in long raids:
/useskill Prevailing Sonata
/useskill Daring Sonata
/useskill Refreshing Sonata
/target [name of toon]
/target [name of toon]
/delay 220
Replace [name of toon] with the name of the toon you will follow. The trick here is to use the target command twice so that the char gets into follow mode. Wait for almost 4 minutes (delay 220) and then cast the sonatas again. This way you can Trio box at a long raid without having to switch windows not even once, to renew the sonatas. Back to Contents
This is the macro I use as a healer in K99 when I got to switch windows to use a box. Sadly, its much easier to box a damage dealer than a healer in K99, unless you have really strong players in the party. Here is the macro:
/useskill Progressive Heal
/useskill Brilliant Heal
/useskill Balance Heal
/useskill Progressive Heal
/delay 2
/useskill Progressive Heal
/useskill Balance Heal
/useskill Progressive Heal
Now if you feel the urge to loop the macro you would need to add a /delay 2 at the end. But I cannot imagine what would motivate you to do such a thing :P. Looping such a macro would lead to overhealing and using up all your mana. Use this only when you need to be afk for max 30 seconds or alt-tab windows. Alternatively, use it when you are in K99 but you wanna eat at the same time …. Thought that is not responsible healing :P. Back to Contents
Using macros and looping them is perfectly legal and has nothing to do with using illegal programs to bot. However, you will still find some players who will want to ruin your xp by flagging on your afk xping toons. If you have to xp in an area with a lot of people, don’t use targetnext and write the whole name of the mob in the macro, so that you don’t target the flagged person. If your toon ends up attacking the flagged person, it will die. Also, do not use auto-defend on pets, do not use aoe skills nor /attackforce in your macros. All of the above will make you flag against another player and this is something you especially do not want if you clan has wars declared upon it, but also because if you are away from keyboard you will lose the fight and end up lying dead instead of xping. XP-Macro for Phantom Ranger lvl 40
You can loop this Macro in Aligator island along the line (x,y – x,y) (36,37 – 37,37) especially at the left corner of it (36,37). It gives great results! 7 levels xp afk. After lvl 47, you won’t get any more xp here.
/target dailaon lad
/attack
/delay 2
/target crokian lad
/attack
/delay 2
There are a lot of people ingame that will discourage you from using macros while afk. The will do that because they are ignorant and they are basing their opinions on the fact that 3rd party programs are not allowed. It is true that the game has suffered a lot from bots. Bots are programs and scripts that work outside the lineage 2 game and automatize xping and many other functions. We all know that using such programs is cheating. However, using macros that available via the original game for whatever purpose, afk or not, is perfectly in accordance to the rules of the game. There is a vast difference between using a 3rd party program and using the game’s features to their full capacity. Some people claim that it is wrong to xp while afk but that is their personal opinion and not the opinion of NCsoft. NCsoft allows and endorses the use of ingame macros. So if you have a moral problem with that, you can send your objections to NCsoft. From the knowledgebase of the official website:
“Beginning with the Helio’s Update it is not prohibited to use skills and other macro commands that are already available in the game with the repeat macro function. However, using illegal 3rd party software with the repeat macro function is prohibited.” Back to Contents
Some Macros that have proved successful to me I am adding here (adding as I invent them):
For Summoner lvl 50+ in Sea of Spores
It took me a while to develop this macro, but the end product works quite well and without supervision!
/target rott
/useskill Solar Spark
/summonattack
/delay 3
/targetnext
/useskill Dimension Spiral
/summonattack
/useskill Wind Strike
/delay 2
/targetnext
/useskill Solar Spark
/summonattack
Note: Make sure you have buffed your pet with your pet buffs, opened up Spirit Sharing and Transfer Pain! Also open up Life and Aqua Cubic.
For Summoner lvl 53+ in Sea of Spores
After your summoner reaches lvl 53, you can use the following macro. It works best with beastshots and the summon Mirage the Unicorn (and the buffs mentioned in the previous macro):
/target rott
/useskill Solar Spark
/useservitorskills Mega Storm Strike
/summonattack
/delay 1
/targetnext
/useskill Solar Spark
/summonattack
/delay 1
/target fungus
/useskill Wind Strike
/useservitorskills Mega Storm Strike
Macro for Summoner lvl 58 in Forsaken Plains Quest No1
/target Talon Tiger
/useskill Solar Spark
/summonattack
/target Orc
/useskill Wind Strike
/useskill Wind Strike
/useskill Solar Spark
/targetnext
/summonattack
/useskill Wind Strike
/useskill Wind Strike
Macro for Summoner lvl 58 in Forsaken Plains Quest No2
Don’t even try using /targetnext here, it is almost certain someone will flag on you and your toon will end up dead. This is a very popular area so you have to be careful when creating a macro and use only the mobs names as targets. I chose to use the aggressive mobs so that I don’t have to worry about mobs following me. This way I don’t have to use targetnext. I am using the Boxer summon here.
/target Yintzu
/useskill Solar Spark
/summonattack
/useskill Wind Strike
/target Hamrut
/useskill Wind Strike
/useskill Wind Strike
/summonattack
/useskill Solar Spark
/useskill Servitor Heal
/useskill Servitor Heal
/pickup
